Joma Short, Worship Pastor

Joma Short is originally from Rockford, Illinois, and grew up going to church off and on with family until she was 12. At age 13, she had an encounter with the Lord that led to her salvation and a calling on her life to lead worship and to “call forth a generation” to know Jesus. However, the time between the calling and walking it out was a process, but it eventually led her to serve the Lord in various places.

Pastor Joma has made quite an impact on many lives wherever she has served. She was the Youth and Young Adult Pastor for Light the Way Church in Cottage Grove, MN. She obtained her BA in Youth Ministry and Pastoral Studies from North Central University and is also a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of God. She is a Co-Founder of No Greater Love International, which is a nonprofit mission organization bringing relief and holistic development to the orphaned and disenfranchised in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

From 2007- 2017, Joma served as a missionary and worship leader at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, MO, and from 2012 – 2016 she helped build prayer ministries in Los Angeles and Pasadena California, and also in various cities across the nation with Lou Engle and The Call. After ten years of growing in the Lord and serving with IHOP, she felt the urge to branch out and help others receive what she had learned under that ministry.

In 2018, Joma felt the Lord wanted her to move to Clinton, Iowa to start a prayer room and work with young people. In obedience to the Lord, she moved to the area and she established The Upper Room. The ministry of the Upper Room serves as a House of Prayer and Christ-Centered Creative and Performing Arts Center that serves the youth of our region.

Pastor Joma not only pours her heart into leading worship, and sharing the gospel, but she is also a dedicated mother of two daughters Tzion Jubilee and Naviah Ariel. As she leads our congregation in worship it is apparent that Joma has a passion to make Jesus famous through music and the arts. It is her desire to serve the body of Christ at Kingdom Life Community Church, and to help connect the hearts of the people to the Father’s heart, and for them to realize their full potential in Christ.
