Steve Harmon, Lead Pastor

Pastor Steve grew up in a Christian home where his parents took him to church regularly.  He dedicated his life to Christ and made faith his own at a Promise Keepers event in Minneapolis on August 25, 1997.  Since that time God renewed a call on his life that he received when he was a young boy to preach the gospel.

Here Pastor Steve was discipled by Pastor Mike Wiersema and later by Pastor Chris Byrd.  During that time the call to be in pastoral ministry was confirmed and Pastor Steve was placed as the assistant youth pastor in 2000.  In 2001, Pastor Mike Wiersema left to pursue other opportunities, and Pastor Steve was installed as the youth pastor.  Since that time, Pastor Steve has been strategically involved in the development of the youth ministry.  His heart was to disciple young people into a deep and growing relationship with the Lord.  He has led them on mission trips to Peru in 2001 and Mexico in 2004 and 2007.  Pastor Steve was chosen as part of a leadership team for the Desperation network of youth pastors by David Perkins of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He has also spoken during breakout sessions at the Desperation Conference in Colorado Springs.

Pastor Steve has an anointing to preach and to lead worship and has been a major part of our worship team since 2000.  In April of 2009, Pastor Steve took over the role of Associate Pastor and began leading worship for the church.  Pastor Steve became the Lead Pastor in 2018 when Pastor Chris and Lori left to become missionaries in Tanzania.

During his years here, Pastor Steve has led college ministries.  He had the call to start a college ministry on the campus of Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.  He lead that ministry until Ashford closed in 2016.

In 2008, Pastor Steve married his best friend Michelle.  Michelle grew up as Michelle Boland in Coarsegold, California in the middle of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  She often says that Yosemite National Park was her playground.  Michelle has always been free spirited.  She loves to be outside whenever possible and spending time with her horses.  She loves to mountain bike and climb as well as hunt, backpack, and fly fish.  Michelle gave her life to the Lord on the side of a mountain during a youth retreat when she was a teenager.  Since that time she has been in passionate pursuit of her Savior and considers being in the ministry with her husband one of the greatest joys of her life.  She is a devoted wife and they are the proud parents of Silas and Lily.  Pastor Steve also has an adult daughter, Kelsey.
